Becoming an auto-entrepreneur in Algeria: the 2026 guide from registration to taxes

The path of an Algerian auto-entrepreneur: ANAE registration, 0.5% IFU, CASNOS, the 5M DA ceiling, invoices, a foreign-currency account, and the points still unclear.

To work legally as an independent in Algeria without setting up a company, the auto-entrepreneur status (Law 22-23) is the simplest route: you register on the ANAE platform, you get a card, you pay a flat tax of 0.5% of turnover (minimum 10,000 DA a year) and you contribute to CASNOS. The ceiling is 5,000,000 DA a year. The rest of this guide is about taking those steps in the right order.

A new auto-entrepreneur’s path

An example: a graphic designer in Oran who wants to invoice local and foreign clients. She first checks that her activity falls in one of the seven eligible domains (consulting and training, digital services, personal services and so on), then files her application on the ANAE platform. Once she has the card she has 30 days to declare her existence to the tax office (form G no. 8) and join CASNOS. If she needs one, she then opens a bank account and issues her first invoices.

Each step has its own detailed article: registration and the ANAE card, IFU and CASNOS, the CASNOS choice between flat and 15%, the G12 and G12 bis calendar, the 5 million ceiling, invoices, the foreign-currency account and micro-importation.

The 5% IFU figure, still repeated everywhere, predates the 2024 Finance Law. The 8 million DA limit belongs to the general IFU regime, not to the auto-entrepreneur status. And the 43,200 DA a year figure for CASNOS is a floor of the standard contribution, not the auto-entrepreneur flat option.

What is still unclear

The texts we read do not say how to treat income received in foreign currency for a service rendered abroad, or whether turnover is counted on invoicing or on payment. The details are in the matching articles, with the recommended course until the administration answers in writing.

To put numbers on your own situation, use the net-income calculator. If you hire an employee, the net salary, IRG and CNAS calculator shows what is withheld from a given gross salary and what the employee actually takes home.

  • Verified Status governed by Law 22-23 of 18 December 2022; registration on the ANAE platform; auto-entrepreneur card; seven eligible activity domains.
  • Verified IFU of 0.5% of turnover for auto-entrepreneurs since the 2024 Finance Law (minimum 10,000 DA); ceiling of 5,000,000 DA; the former 5% rate and the 8,000,000 DA threshold belong to the general regime.
  • Verified CASNOS: flat 24,000 DA a year or the standard 15% contribution (Executive Decrees 24-49 and 26-257).
  • To verify Tax treatment of foreign-currency income for a service rendered abroad, and when turnover is counted (invoice or payment): no text we read says.
