What an invoice must show in Algeria

According to the Ministry of Commerce FAQ page, every sale of goods or supply of services between economic operators is covered by an invoice, issued when the sale or service takes place. The invoice shows the seller identity and address, legal form and activity, the trade register number and the NIS, the date and sequence number, the description, quantity, unit price and total excluding taxes, the kind and rate of taxes, the total including taxes in figures and words, and the payment method and date.

Our generator puts all these items in a clean A4 layout, with the total in words worked out for you. You stay in control of every mention, and you can pick French, Arabic or English for the document.

Auto-entrepreneur, IFU or real regime

An auto-entrepreneur does not always have a trade register entry: that field accepts the auto-entrepreneur card number. ANAE states that the NIS is not required to carry out the activity, so the box is optional.

Under the real regime the invoice details VAT per rate (19% or 9%). For the auto-entrepreneur and the IFU no VAT line is computed. We found no text that fixes the mention to write instead, so the mention field stays free, to complete as your tax office advises.

Stamp duty and cash payments

A cash payment triggers the receipt stamp duty. When you tick the option the DGI scale is applied to the total: nothing up to 300 DA, then 1 DA, 1.5 DA or 2 DA per 100 DA tranche depending on the amount, with a minimum of 5 DA. Check with your tax office who bears it and how to show it.

Frequently asked questions

What are the mandatory mentions of an invoice in Algeria?

According to the Ministry of Commerce: identity and address of the seller and the buyer, legal form and activity, trade register number and NIS, date and sequence number, description, quantity, unit price and total excluding taxes, taxes, total including taxes in figures and words, payment method and date.

Does an auto-entrepreneur need an RC and a NIS?

The ministry list mentions them, but ANAE says the NIS is not required to operate as an auto-entrepreneur. The generator accepts the auto-entrepreneur card number instead of the RC. Confirm the detail with ANAE or your tax office.

Should VAT be shown on an auto-entrepreneur invoice?

The DGI says IFU taxpayers, auto-entrepreneurs included, are not concerned by VAT. The invoice therefore shows no VAT, and any extra mention is left to you.

How do I download the invoice as a PDF?

Click “Download as PDF”, then choose “Save as PDF” as the printer in the window that opens. The file is created on your device.

Is my data saved?

No, nothing is sent to a server. If you tick the option, your seller details are kept in your browser only, and you can clear them in one click.

Does the tool create an official e-invoice?

No. It produces a formatted PDF document, not an invoice sent to the administration.

Assumptions

  • The items follow the list published by the Ministry of Commerce for an invoice (executive decree 05-468). The layout is ours: it is not approved by the administration.
  • Outside the real regime (auto-entrepreneur, IFU) no VAT line appears. The text of any mention to add is left to you.
  • Under the real regime VAT is computed per rate on the total excluding VAT of each rate, rounded to the centime.
  • Stamp duty, if added, follows the DGI scale for a cash payment (1 DA, 1.5 DA or 2 DA per 100 DA tranche depending on the amount, minimum 5 DA).
  • The amount in words is generated automatically: read it again, especially in Arabic.

Cases not covered

  • Foreign-currency invoices, invoices to a foreign client, credit notes, proforma invoices and delivery notes.
  • Discounts, rebates and withholding at source.
  • Official e-invoicing: the tool produces a PDF, not an invoice sent to the administration.
