After the auto-entrepreneur card: the list of steps, in order, with deadlines
Declaration of existence within 30 days, CASNOS, registers, first invoice, the G12 bis return, the 5 million DA ceiling: the steps after the ANAE card, with official sources.
You have your auto-entrepreneur card. Nothing is in order yet: several obligations run from the date of the card. Here is the list, in the order it is best to do them, with the text that requires each. Tick them one by one and keep every proof.
Within 30 days
1. Declaration of existence (G n°8). Law 22-23 sets it within 30 days of registration. It is filed at the tax inspection or the local tax centre you depend on; the form can be downloaded from the DGI site. If you are late, the fine is 30,000 DA. It is what gives you your NIF, see the glossary.
2. CASNOS affiliation. It is compulsory (law 22-23, art. 10). You will choose between the flat fee and the percentage: see the 24,000 DA flat fee or 15%.
3. Registers. The DGI requires registers, shown on request. A service provider keeps a journal of receipts, day by day; a seller of goods (a micro-importer, for example) keeps a purchases register and a sales register, numbered and initialled by the tax office. Without registers: a 10,000 DA fine. Keep the documents for ten years.
4. Bank account. The NIS is no longer needed to open one. If foreign clients pay you, see the foreign-currency account and receiving a payment from abroad.
Before the first invoice
5. A compliant invoice. Prepare a template with the mandatory mentions: auto-entrepreneur invoice and the invoice generator.
6. Tracking turnover. The annual ceiling is 5,000,000 DA. Note every receipt and follow it with the ceiling tracker.
Every year
7. G12 bis. A new taxpayer files only the final return G n°12 bis, by 20 January of the year following the start of activity, and pays the IFU spontaneously (0.5% of turnover for the auto-entrepreneur). The exact dates are in the article on the G12 and G12 bis deadlines and in the tax calendar.
8. Turnover certificate for ANAE. Every year you file with ANAE an administrative turnover certificate issued by the tax office (see the article on registration and the card).
Three traps to know
Declaring zero three years in a row can lead to removal. Exceeding 5,000,000 DA three years in a row forces a move to the commercial register to continue. Finally, the DGI page says new taxpayers may opt at the G n°8 for the real or simplified regime, an irrevocable option: it does not say whether this applies to an auto-entrepreneur, so tick nothing without the tax inspection’s written advice.
To find or check your activity code, see the ANAE list activity codes.

Show the point-by-point detail
- Verified After registration, law 22-23 requires a declaration of existence at the tax office within 30 days (art. 11) and CASNOS affiliation (art. 10). The DGI sets the fine for a late declaration of existence at 30,000 DA (art. 194 of the CIDTA).
- Verified IFU taxpayers must keep registers according to their activity, to be shown on request; service providers keep a day-to-day journal of professional receipts. Having no registers is fined 10,000 DA. Accounting documents are kept for ten years.
- Verified A new taxpayer files only the G n°12 bis (final return), by 20 January of the year following the start of activity at the latest, and pays the IFU spontaneously. The auto-entrepreneur’s IFU is 0.5% of turnover, up to 5,000,000 DA a year.
- Verified An auto-entrepreneur who declares no turnover, or a “nil” turnover, for three years after registration risks removal; if turnover exceeds 5,000,000 DA three years in a row, they must register in the commercial register to continue (law 22-23, art. 14, as reported by the DGI).
- Verified The NIS is no longer required to operate or to open a bank account (ANAE note 133/2024 of 1 October 2024, headline read, text not consulted).
- To verify The DGI page says new taxpayers may opt, when filing the existence declaration G n°8, for the real regime or the simplified regime, and that the option is irrevocable. It does not say whether this concerns an auto-entrepreneur: tick nothing without the tax inspection’s advice.
